I had the pleasure this weekend to sit down and talk with Fort Worth’s own Tawaine Hall about life, music, and everything in between. I first want to say that is one of the most real and authentic people I’ve met. A little background on Tawaine, he was born and raised on the south side of Fort Worth and its this upbringing that fuels his creativity and passion for success. We discussed the current state of Hip Hop and we both agreed that the “golden age” of hip hop and rap was the 90′s. Bone Thugs, Jay Z and Pimp C round are three rappers that Tawaine respects the most. Bone Thugs because “they were really the pioneers of rapping fast” and that has influenced Tawaine’s rapping style, Jay Z because of his success in business, and Pimp C because of the honesty he delivered in his raps. A few producers that Tawaine would like to work with are Manny Fresh, Pharrell, and Diplo.
This brings me to the title of his newly realesed Album ‘Failure’. The name Failure represents all of the people that told Tawaine that he would never amount to anything saying that he was a “failure”. It’s those people that have motivated him to “show them what a failure really is”. He brings an authentic style to his music because it comes from a honest place. ‘Failure’ combines Tawaine’s silky smooth rhymes with some true Texas beats. He has instant classics on this album like ‘Dream Car’ and ‘Mr. Nobody’ and Tawaine’s personal favorite track ‘R.E.M’. If you like Hip-Hop Tawaine is an artist that you should definitely support. Below is my personal favorite track ‘Mr. Nobody’ plus a link to download his album for free.
